Abstract

Author Summary: In recent times various studies have characterised the extent to which natural radioactive contamination is occurring within groundwater. Unfortunately there seems to be no standard sampling and monitoring protocol for radionuclides within secondary aquifers. A document of this nature is important due to the fact that a major part of South Africa is underlain by hard rock aquifers and they supply numerous towns with potable water for various uses.
