Abstract

A compact radio-frequency (RF) power divider has been developed for the next generation lower hybrid current drive (LHCD) antenna at a frequency of several gigahertz. The power divider is featured by power splitting in the H plane of a rectangular waveguide with posts. The posts in the waveguide are used to reduce reflective power into the input waveguide and to divide RF power into the following subwaveguides with the same ration. The H plane power-divider having three subwaveguides is fabricated for comparing with analytical results by a calculation code. The positions of three posts are optimized by the calculation code to obtain the required RF properties. Measured RF properties show good agreement with the calculated data at a frequency of 2 GHz. The results show that the code can design the power divider in the H plane with posts.
