Abstract

To realize the detection of worms (larvae of the peach fruit moth) in peach fruits, this paper describes the design method, inspection process, and system configuration in this system. A handling unit that can grasp a peach fruit by using the special sheet is developed for this inspection system, because peach fruits are sensitive to damages on the surface. Furthermore, the prototype of the proposed inspection system was made for the verification test. From the verification test result, it was confirmed that the stability, operability and safety of the inspection system were good. Therefore, it turned out that the peach fruit inspection method proposed in this paper would be useful for automatic detection of internal damages by worms.
