Abstract

Many physiological, emotional, and lifestyle changes occur following childbirth. It can be especially difficult for primiparous mothers to adjust to their new roles and responsibilities, leading to frustration and, occasionally, mental health distress/issues. Consequently, many new mothers express desire for more professional guidance and support relating to baby and personal care during their postpartum periods. Unfortunately, because of limited time, capacity, and resources, few OBGYNs can provide comprehensive postnatal care. This work aims to develop an evidence-informed 1–2 page resource on postpartum care for first-time and/or overwhelmed mothers.
