Abstract

The role of a backlight module's light guide plate (LGP) is to guide the light source to reach both high luminance and high luminance uniformity purposes. Most of the previous studies focused on analyzing a single light source LGP; however, there are many LGPs with more than one light source in the market. In this study, an L-type light source 7 LGP with 91.25% luminance uniformity was designed and analyzed using commercial optical analysis software. LIGA-like technology has been applied to fabricate the molding stamper and molding of the LGP in this study. A LGP molded with a 350 ton injection molding machine has a luminance uniformity of 85.26% which is higher than the current industry specification.
