Abstract
SUMMARYTo determine the optimum conditions for inducing retting of flax, by the application of glyphosate herbicide, it is necessary to have an easily portable tool which will give a rapid, accurate assessment of the stage that retting has reached. Such a tool, which can be used to test individual stems, is described and the estimates of retting obtained compared with those from other methods.
