Abstract

In this work, an independent physical temperature calibration phantom (TCP) set for MRI temperature imaging system quality assurance was proposed. The novel TCP was constructed using a heating unit, temperature sensor, and MR phantom liquid. A specialized heating unit was developed using carbon fibers. The whole set design was an integration of the TCP, temperature measurement unit, display unit, and control unit. The proposed MR calibration kit, which is a combination of the TCP set and standard MR phantom, was used in the MR thermometry calibration. Accuracy and heating efficiency of the TCP set were 1 °C and 1 °C/min, respectively. Calibration of the MR thermometry was implemented successfully. And it was completely compatible with the MR system and could be used to calibrate MR thermometry to ensure the quality performance of the MRI temperature imaging system.KeywordsMR temperature calibration phantomquality assuranceMR thermometryMR image quality
