Abstract

Accurate acquisition of the 3D facial data is very important for designing face prosthesis to restore the patients' appearance. In this paper, a 3D optical measurement system based on fringe projection is development for facial prosthesis. Compared with CT, MRI or laser scanning, this system is fast, safe and cost less. The developed system consists of two measurement sensors which can scan and register both sides of the patients' face. A detailed system mathematical model is deduced and a system calibration method is proposed to ensure the system accuracy. This system has been successfully applied to the clinical applications.
