Abstract

In the academic sphere of undergraduate Civil Engineering courses, students find it difficult to abstract three-dimensional visualisations from two-dimensional images presented in project documentation. The aim of this article is therefore to present an alternative to assist in the teaching and learning process of steel and reinforced concrete structural design content. Three-dimensional models of steel connections and reinforced concrete structural elements were developed with functionality for the application of Augmented Reality (AR). The models were developed in Revit software and exported to the Sketchfab platform, where it is possible to use the AR feature via an application. Additional information, such as texts, can be added to the models, which expands the possibilities for developing didactic activities. Both tools used proved to be very suitable for the purpose of developing digital objects for teaching engineering.
