Abstract
The work presented here proposes a terminal guidance law against very high-speed targets. Proportional navigation guidance (PNG) is mostly effective for interceptors and targets with ideal dynamics and constant speeds during the collision course, however, it is nonrobust for the objects with nonconstant speeds, such as the interceptor equipped with thrust-vector-control (TVC). To resolve the problem the interceptor considered here is guided by a 3-dimensional (3-D) modified proportional navigation guidance (MPNG) law, which is developed to account for the interceptor's axial acceleration. The guidance law is potentially applicable to interceptors with TVC to provide lateral accelerations.
