Abstract

Twenty-four novel polymorphic tri- and tetranucleotide microsatellites were isolated from a fosmid library of the Zhikong scallop Chlamys farreri. The polymorphism of these loci was characterized in 30 individuals. The number of alleles ranged from 2 to 9. The observed heterozygosity and expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.000 to 0.750 and from 0.187 to 0.850, respectively. No significant linkage disequilibrium between pairs of loci was observed and 12 loci showed significant departures from the Hardy–Weinberg proportions. These markers are expected to provide a useful resource for the research of population genetics of the Zhikong scallop.
