Abstract

In this paper, the development of 170 GHz, 0.1 MW short pulse gyrotron has been explained. All components of 170 GHz gyrotron such as MIG, cavity, beam tunnel, collector and RF window with radial output have been designed and developed. A quasi optical mode converter consists of smooth wall mode launcher, 3-metallic mirrors and vacuum chamber with view front of window has been successfully developed. The integration and vacuum processing of demountable 170 GHz gyrotron have been carried out. The overall length of gyrotron is around 2.2 m and weight is around 200 kg without cooling ducts. This is the first step of development of an ITER gyrotron.
