Abstract

This development research aims at determining validity measurement of environmental literacy and environmental ethics instruments. Assessment of environmental literacy is considered important to determine students' ability to understand environmental concepts and to apply that knowledge in every action in their daily lives is. Meanwhile, environmental ethics assessment is intended to find out the attitudes and behavior of students towards the surrounding environment. This is a development research using the Oriondo and Dallo-Antonio's model, which was modified according to development needs, consisting of the initial planning and drafting stage of the instrument, the validation and trial, and the final instrument preparation. The validity analysis of environmental literacy instruments was carried out in two stages, namely content validity and construct validity, while that of the environmental ethics instrument was undertaken by using the Aiken 'V Validity Coefficient and inter rater reliability. The environmental literacy instrument was declared valid and all items (22 items) could be used, with a very high test reliability test (r-Spearman = 0.950). Meanwhile, the environmental ethics instrument was stated to have moderate validity with Aiken index of 0.794 and Cronbach's Alpha reliability of 0.883, so that both instruments were worthy of being used for retrieving research data.
