Abstract

Agricultural modernization is not only an expressive form of modernization, but also a symbol of social civilization. Based on previous studies, this study established index system and comprehensively evaluated Chinese agricultural modernization from 2008 to 2013. In order to evaluate accurately Chinese agricultural modernization, we studied from three aspects: agricultural production efficiency, living standards of farmers, degree of agricultural transformation. The agricultural production efficiency was evaluated by two indexes: agricultural productivity and yield per unit area of cereal, living standards of farmers was evaluated by two indexes: per capita disposable income of farmers and the proportions of administration village opening Internet, degree of agricultural transformation was evaluated by three indexes: the proportion of agricultural labor, the index of added value of agriculture and the index of agricultural machinery. Data mainly comes from the website of Chinese National Bureau of Statistics and China Rural Statistical Yearbook. According to the development evaluation model of agricultural modernization, the development values of agricultural modernization in 31 provinces (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan were no data) were be calculated from 2008 to 2013. According to the calculation result, the development evaluation value of agricultural modernization of all provinces increased year by year. Research results showed obvious regional differences in the development level, and presented decrease tendency in the development level of agricultural modernization from the eastern China, center to the western China from 2008 to 2013, except the agricultural modernization of Xinjiang and Hubei province was also higher. The study results showed that the development level of most provinces improved from 2008 to 2013, and the number of province in low development level has been greatly reduced.
