Abstract
Measurement of stress is a vital part of the design parameters of any component. Keeping this in mind, the flexural formula used to calculate stresses developed in a beam, has been validated experimentally, theoretically and analytically. In this paper, experimental setup for stress measurement using NI LabVIEW has been presented. The strain gauges used for measurement of deflection of a beam subjected to different point and uniformly distributed loading conditions, were interfaced with the LabVIEW software using NI 9219 Module. A simulation model was developed in ANSYS and the results obtained were compared with experimental and theoretical values. The final results were analysed and thus, the flexural formula for cantilever beam was successfully validated.
