Abstract
In the last years solar air heating collectors have gained significance especially in the field of industrial and agricultural applications. In the period from 1982 to 1986 a project of development and testing of simple air heating solar collectors sponsored by the German Ministry of Research and Technology was carried out at our institute. The main topics were:1Development and improvement of simple solar air heating collectors for agricultural and industrial applications.2Performance measurements under steady- and quasi-steady-state conditions.3Material testing was performed with respect to durability of transparent collector glazing. The mechanical stability and the spectral transmission were measured.4Real size plants were designed and monitored in practice mainly for drying of hay and other agricultural products.
