Abstract

No evidence-based integrated assessment system exists yet to evaluate function and health of older people with long-term care needs in Korea. We developed the Korean version of interRAI long-term care facilities (interRAI-LTCF) and interRAI home care (interRAI-HC), comprehensive and integrated geriatric assessment tools with common core items. Psychometric properties of the newly developed instrumetns were evaluated using a sample of 908 older residents in long-term care hospitals, nursing homes, or at home with home care in Korea. Internal consistency of eight major composite measures in the tools were excellent. The overall mean kappa of the items interRAI-LTCF and those in interRAI-HC with a subsample of 534 were 0.78 and 0.89. Almost all items in interRAI-LTCF (93.8%) and in interRAI-HC (98.5%) achieved almost perfect or substantial reliability (kappa>.61). Assessors' feedbacks on the feasibility and usability of the newly developed tools will be discussed.
