Abstract

Purpose: Johns Hopkins Pediatric Transport arranges transport for over 3,000 pediatric patients annually from 60+ referring healthcare facilities to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Children's Center. In order to expertly triage these patients and safely care for them during transport, team members (nurses, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians) need ongoing cognitive and procedural training. To address this need for consistent education, we recently developed a standardized curriculum, focusing on six topics of interest to pediatric transport: Cardiac Emergencies, Neurologic Emergencies, Respiratory Emergencies, Environmental Emergencies, Initial Stabilization and Resuscitation, and ECMO Transport.
