Abstract

In this study, Toshiba conducted evaluation for our new absorbents (absorbent A, absorbent B) being tested by Mikawa CO2 Capture Pilot Plant (10ton-CO2/day scale), with respect to not only CO2 recovery energy but also the performance of the mitigation for amine degradation and amine emissions. The result shows that CO2 recovery energy of absorbent A and B was almost the same as that of TS-1 under 12% CO2 concentration. Moreover, CO2 recovery energy of absorbent A and B revealed much lower than that of TS-1 at low CO2 concentration (4% CO2). We also verified amine emissions to compare our new absorbents with TS-1. In the past study, we revealed that the amine emission of TS-1 is lower than MEA solution. In this study, emissions of absorbent A and B are found to be much lower than TS-1. Additionally, it was found that increase rate of formic acid, which is one of the evaluation indicators for amine degradation, derived from our new absorbents (absorbent A, absorbent B) was much lower than that of TS-1.
