Abstract

The lubricating properties of Butyrol and Laurol A, which are synthetic diesters based on 2,2,4-dimethylpentane-1,3-diol, were assessed using the I.P. 300 method and on a textile laboratory rig. Laboratory, pilot plant and production samples of the lubricants were examined and compared with commercially available lubricants. The test results showed that these compounds had unique lubricating properties which allowed higher speeds in spinning and doubling without the characteristic blueing.
