Abstract

With the fossil fuels being depleted very fast, the current energy scenario is very difficult and damaging for current and following generations. To boost some effective contribution towards the awareness in alternate fuels & energy, in this project, an electric All-terrain vehicle (ATV) roll cage is developed with utility factor, analyzed and validated physically with all-round performance of the vehicle. The objective of this project is development of electric All-Terrain Vehicle roll cage according to SAEINDIA rules, finite element analysis (FEA) for design validation, feasibility, safety and physical testing at event site. The roll cage is modified from one seater vehicle to three seater vehicle with luggage allowance, which is a good utility addition for an all-terrain vehicle. Transformation from gasoline vehicle to electric vehicle is also considered while development & analysis. The developed roll cage is tested under static & dynamic loading conditions. From the Finite Element Analysis and testing, the factor of safety obtained is above 2 for all cases and thus it can be inferred that the vehicle roll cage is safe, feasible and can sustain the loading environment for various cases it has been designed for and also it passes AIS Standards. This electric allterrain vehicle development will have actual utility after the event unlike regular all-terrain vehicles, as well as it will impart awareness about electric vehicles.
