Abstract

In this study, a circular disk metasurface with a single and array of the rectangular slot is developed for early cancer detection as a non-ionized method in the THz spectrum. The rectangular slot is used for concentrating the energy to achieve a higher Q-factor as the basic model for 0.86 THz. In the second step, arrays of the slots are exploited and the results show that the Q-factor is increased from 1331.8 for the first structure to 1898.5 for the second structure. Comparison between the simple disk and disk with slot shows that slots by concentrating energy as capacitance can be used to improve the Q-factor and transmission of the metasurface. The Parametric studies show that the transmission of the proposed metasurface is modified for a higher Q-factor. Finally, this structure is used for detecting cancer and healthy cell with various thicknesses for skin cancer. Results show that this metasurface can be used for recognizing the healthy and cancerous tissue based on the different effect of them on Q-factor, impedance and admittance of the metasurface.
