Abstract

This study aims at developing Job Characteristics Model (JCM) of job design via exploring the effect of person-organization fit (P-O fit) on the relationship between job redesign techniques of the model and employees’ motivation. A questionnaire was distributed to a sample of five-star hotels of Sharm Elsheikh and Hurghada. It was revealed that (P-O fit) tends to mediate the relationship of (JCM) variables (i.e. employees with high (P-O fit) respond positively to job design compared to employees who miss it). This guides the management to raise (P-O fit) initially via adequate selection and socialization of the employees prior to using job design as a motivator.
