Abstract
The prestressed concrete industry provides large volumes of precast floor and wall units for use in bearing wall buildings. In addition to the wide interest in precast panel bearing wall buildings, the industry has a vital interest in brick and concrete masonry bearing wall buildings which often utilize precast prestressed concrete floor units. For decades, relatively little engineering research and development attention was paid to bearing wall construction.
