Abstract
This article uses examples and lessons learned from the Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) contamination warning system (CWS) to show the importance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for investigating indicators of possible distribution system contamination. This information is presented in the context of a series of questions addressed during development of procedures for the GCWW CWS.
