Abstract
The care of older people in hospital is severely testing every aspect of the NHS's resources. To say that the nursing care of such people is in crises would not be an exaggeration, especially given some of the scandals highlighted by the media. One television programme showed such appalling conditions regarding the nursing care of older people that the producers claimed that judging by the intensity and content of the general public's responses, they could have filmed in numerous other locations around the UK.
