Abstract

The study emphasises the importance of digital technology as an integral part of modern society and as the driving force of economic development, the challenges and perspectives of modern digital society. We further explore the basic concepts of digital society as 'digital culture', 'digital competence', and 'digital natives'. The primary purpose of this study is to examine future teachers' knowledge based on the questionnaire about the digital culture which was conducted among 97 future teachers from the faculty of Education at Abai national pedagogical university in Kazakhstan. The obtained data expanded our understanding of future teachers' knowledge or understanding of digital culture. We further analyse the results and suggest a solution to develop future teachers' knowledge and competence in the mentioned field.
