Abstract

Many people desire to learn English effectively, because of the globally influential language. Especially, the undergraduates are very keen in developing their English language skill. They Develop it through additional classes, certificate and diploma courses. During the pandemic situation in Srilanka, They could participate online webinars at home due to online learning process. Thus, the objective of this research is to identify whether they were able to improve their English proficiency. For that, the research uses descriptive methodology . The primary data were gathered by structured questionnaire to 75 undergraduates of third year of the south eastern university of sri lanka. At the same time the, Secondary data were gathered from books, research articles, and website. The data obtained were analyzed by Ms excel. This research finds that the undergraduates were able to get pros in Education, to participate number of webinars, to complete English courses, to improve their English proficiency during COVID-19. In particular this research declared that there were as many pros in Education as there were cons during the pandemic.
