Abstract

As we move toward competency-based surgical education, detailed and actionable feedback to trainees is critical to ensure adequate and efficient skill development. Comprehensive operative capture systems such as the Operating Room Black Box (Surgical Safety Technologies, Inc, Toronto, Ontario, Canada), which continuously record and synchronize multiple sources of intraoperative data, have recently been developed for hybrid angiosuites to provide targeted feedback to surgical teams. The objective of this study is to develop step, error and event frameworks that can evaluate technical performance in endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) procedures comprehensively captured by the Operating Room Black Box system.
