Abstract

In order to offer opportunities to practice collaboration skills to students of hypermedia engineering and students of journalism and mass communication, a cross-university course “Developing an Online Publication for Journalism” based on simulations of real-world design projects was organised in spring 2011. According the results, the simulations motivated both hypermedia and journalism students to learn and to develop their professional competencies and collaboration skills. A web service design project with special working methods was unfamiliar to the journalism students, who were dissatisfied with the division of work tasks and asked for more instructions and guidance.
