Abstract

This study attempted to optimize resort hotel location type in Taiwan by using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Questionnaires were completed by 17 experts directly involved in tourism development projects. Analytical results indicated that while industry professionals, government authorities and resort investors considered all five dimensions of Porter's Diamond Model (that is factor endowments; demand conditions; firm strategy, structure and rivalry; related and supporting industries and government) important, each group ranked their relative importance differently. Finally, a recommended solution was presented and analyzed based on the business strategic plan.
