Abstract

An efficient regime is proposed for heating regenerative soaking pits provided with separate feeds of a gas with a high heat of combustion (coke-oven gas) and a gas with a low heat of combustion (blast-furnace gas). Implementation of the regime in the roughing shop of the Alchevsk Metallurgical Combine is making it possible to eliminate the use of a control temperature in the working volume of the pits during the initial stage of the soaking period. Use of the regime is also shortening this period by 2–3%, decreasing oxidation loss of metal by 3–4%, and increasing the output of usable metal by 2–3%.
