Abstract

There are very high diabetes rates in Northern Ontario Indigenous communities. Accessing diabetes education, care and management often means travelling by air to the nearest health facility. Opportunities for optimal diabetes self-management are limited and nursing positions are often difficult to fill. Personal support workers play a key role in providing home care services and diabetes support.
