Abstract

Summary This article describes the development of an expanded liaison outreach program in the context of a view of organizational structure that is characterized by a flattened organizational hierarchy, an emphasis on programmatic groups and a merger with college computing services. The goal of this liaison program is to provide consistent information to academic departments about library services, collection development and instruction, as well as information regarding computing services. The production of a liaison script to assist librarians in communicating information about rapidly changing services and technologies offered by a merged Division of Library and Information Services is outlined. The first years of the liaison program's development are evaluated in terms of the barriers to success and the benefits of such an expanded program.
