Abstract

Rona Grieve describes how the expansion of a haemodialysis service was facilitated by a new dialysis access nurse role. The author outlines key objectives of this designated role and reports how, through the use of audit, these objectives are being met to date. In particular, the service, which involves a one-stop access clinic and link nurses in each dialysis unit, has worked to reduce tunnelled line rates.
