Abstract

Gerhardt Stenger : Two unknown manuscripts of Diderot : madame de la Carlière and Sur les femmes. The Vienna National Library possesses two Diderot manuscripts that have hitherto escaped the notice of editors of his works. They are intermediate versions of Madame de la Carlière and Sur les femmes which are worthy of the attention of specialists, as not only do the manuscripts inform us about the elaboration or the different stages of their composition, but in addition their close connection gives us a clearer understanding of the relationship between Diderot's writings for Grimm's Correspondance littéraire and his true literary productions.
