Abstract

An explanation is proposed of the effect of mixtures of two or more l-values in (d, p) stripping angular distributions from the point of view of the spheroidal nuclear model. S. G. Nilsson's wave functions are employed to represent the captured neutron. General properties of the cross-sections and selection rules are discussed. Qualitative agreement is obtained in a number of examples. Angular γ-p correlations are discussed of γ-rays following (d, p) stripping reactions. Polarization of the outgoing protons is calculated.
