Abstract

The vector analyzing power A y and polarization P y have been measured for the l n =0 transitions 116Sn(d, p) 117Sn(gs) and 117Sn(d, p) 118Sn(gs) at E d = 55.4 MeV to obtain the quantities S p = 2 P y − 2 A y and S d = 3 A y − 2 P y . The deuteron D-state effects which are clearly observed for S d are found to arise primarily from contributions quadratic in the D-state amplitude.
