Abstract

The substitution of deuterium for hydrogen in the water of crystallization of lanthanum-diluted cerium magnesium nitrate improves some of its thermometric characteristics. This paramagnetic salt makes it possible to measure lower temperatures, and the difference between the magnetic and absolute temperature is smaller. The time constant for attaining thermal equilibrium is probably shorter than in ordinary cerium lanthanum magnesium nitrate.
