Abstract

Deuterium magnetic resonance (/sup 2/H NMR) was used as a means for determining the distribution of incorporated hydrogen among various organic structures in coal liquids. The centrifuged liquid product from a SYNTHOIL run was deuterated and the labeled sites were identified by the use of /sup 2/H NMR correlation spectra of the liquid and several of its fractions. The hydrogen and deuterium distributions were tabulated. (DDA)
