Abstract

1. The maximum particle velocity in detonation deposition is reached at a certain optimum effective barrel length; the heating of particles increases in intensity with increase in effective barrel length, which is linked with the residence time of the particles in the hot detonation products. 2. The effectiveness of powder utilization and the properties of coatings in detonation deposition are determined to a large extent by the velocity of the particles being deposited, although the character of deposit layer formation is affected also by the degree of heating of the particles.
