Abstract

The lateral distribution of muons with threshold Eμ ≈ 1.0secθ GeV in extensive air showers with energies E0 ≥ 1017 eV for the observation period of 2011–2013 is investigated. The observations show that in the energy range of 1–5 ×1017 eV, the depth of the maximum Xm on the cascade curve grows relatively quickly, due to the composition of cosmic rays changing from predominantly iron nuclei to protons at E0 ≈ 1017 eV.
