Abstract

The aspect ratio is an essential parameter of a camera. It is the ratio of the distances between two adjacent pixels in the frame buffer along the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively. A simple and fast method is proposed for calculating the aspect ratio using a trihedral normal angle. The focal length can also be derived. Neither nonlinear equations nor iterative procedures are used in this approach, and therefore the calculating procedure is analytic and easy to implement.
