Abstract
In April 2019, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) recommended the discontinuation of gonadal and fetal shielding as routine practice [1]. Recently, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) released a similar position statement echoing the recommendation of the AAPM [2]. Position statements from national bodies help initiate change in our profession. Position statements consolidate the latest research on relevant topics and can propel implementation of new recommendations in practice.
