Abstract

Introduction: More work is needed to refine automated algorithms to estimate accelerometer wear and non-wear time for different populations and instruments. None of the published studies to date have focused solely on an older adult population or included the Actical™ activity monitor. This study compared five different accelerometer-derived methods of identifying non-wear time and time spent in sedentary behavior (using the Actical™ activity monitor) with a daily log sheet criterion in a general population sample of adults ≥45 years of age.
