Abstract

The objectives of this study were to determine amount of consumptive water use of seedling of Crimean juniper for different irrigation intervals and amount of water for irrigation with optimum irrigation interval. The study covered the growing periods of 2007 and 2008. Seedlings of Crimean juniper trees were grown in pots. Potted seedlings were irrigated to field capacity in each irrigation event and weighted before each irrigation. This process were carried out for 3, 5 and 7 day-intervals. Traditional nursery application was also used as a control treatment and the same measurements were made for this application. The amounts of consumptive uses were quite different for each irrigation treatment. However the relationship between the measured meteorological parameters and water consumption were determined. Similar meteorological conditions with the help of the obtained equations can be put forward for the estimated values of evapotranspiration (ET) and transpiration (T). Keywords: Potted seedlings, Irrigation interval, Amount of water consumptive, Meteorological parameters
