Abstract

A new method was developed for the preconcentration and determination of uranium in the water samples using homogeneous liquid–liquid microextraction via flotation assistance and inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry. A special extraction cell was designed to facilitate collection of the low-density extraction solvent by using air flotation for extraction of uranium. Under the optimized condition a linear response was obtained over the range of 1.25–100 µg L−1 for uranium. Limit of detection and relative standard deviation of the proposed HLLME-FA method were obtained 0.4 µg L−1 and 6.6 % for uranium, respectively.
