Abstract
A simple experimental method of determining the variation in the ion transmission efficiency with mass-to-charge ratio for quadrupole and other discriminating mass filters is described. This information can be used for the study of mass filters per se, to normalize ion current data to that obtained with non-discriminating filters for comparison of mass spectrometrically obtained fragmentation patterns, and to aid in determining partial pressures from ion currents in thermodynamic studies.
