Johnson, H. R. ; Obrien, G. T. ; Climenhaga, J. L. Abstract A comparison of synthetic spectra based on model atmospheres for luminous carbon stars with high-resolution photographic spectra of the N-type carbon stars V460 Cyg and TX Psc, in the 7950-8065 A wavelength range, has allowed the determination of C/O and C-12/C-13 ratios. The observed and synthetic spectra are best matched for a C/O value of 1.02, and C-12/C-13 values of 24 for V460 Cyg and 27 for TX Psc. Attention is given to both agreements and discrepancies with previously published isotope ratio values, as well as the effect on present results of uncertainties regarding effective temperature, microturbulence, and surface gravity.
