Abstract

The emission spectrum of Sn(I) generated in a direct current arc plasma (Ar-SnCl 4 mixture) has been studied. The relative socillator strengths were obtained in the u.v. spectral range (2400–4000 Å) from measurements of branching ratios and from the study of radial temperature distribution and radial emission coefficients obtained by side-on measurement. These relative oscillator strengths were converted to an absolute scale by using as reference the lifetime determination of the 3 P 1 0 state. The results are compared with other absolute measurements.
